Wisconsin’s culinary options cannot be outdone, and on this episode of Wisconsin, we’ll show you why. We kick off our “Tastes of the State” tour at Warrens Cranfest to experience cranberries in ways you never imagined. A stop in the town of Lancaster will lead us to Woolwich Dairy where your craving for goat cheese of many flavors will hit an all time high. A visit to Vesperman Farms will show us how the Vesperman family grows their own food that then sell in their Cedar House Restaurant in downtown Lancaster. To wash it all down a tour of the Potosi Brewery and their National Brewery Museum will quench your thirst. Heading into Green County we’ll check out the cheese at Edelweiss Creamery and the Roth Kase Factory as well as the world class brews at Minhas Brewery and the New Glarus Brewing Company. Plus, dessert comes in many forms of yogurt at Sugar River Dairy in Albany. To round out the culinary tour we hit Cheese Days in Monroe where the fried cheese curds and cream puffs keep people coming back year after year and from all over the United States. In this Discover Wisconsin episode, we pay tribute to all the men and women who are serving and who have served our state and country in the Armed Forces. We highlight the many programs and services the Wisconsin American Legion provides veterans but also the more than five hundred communities where Legion Posts have been established throughout the state. The Legion sponsors Boy Scout troops, teaches Americanism to high school boys and girls through Badger Boys and Girls State, has it’s own camp where qualifying veterans can spend a summer week getting away from it all and of course there’s American Legion baseball. On this episode of Discover Wisconsin we’re doing it all in Marquette County, Wisconsin. We first have a delicious breakfast and steaming cup of coffee at Charlotte’s Café before hitting the water in a boat of our choosing thanks to Rendezvous Paddle and Sports. Once off the water, a visit to TNT Health, Beauty and Fitness Spa leaves us once again feeling renewed, refreshed and ready to take on the day. A night or two at Pioneer Motor Inn, just down the road, is a relaxing finish to any day. Waking up on the “right” side of the bed we visit Prairie Nursery to plan how to create our own natural landscapes and personal sanctuaries in our yards when we get home. We’ll wrap up our whirlwind tour with a Marquette County gem, Maggie Mae herself. We’ll eat, listen and dance our way through a day with her music and her spunky personality. After seeing all this, you’ll be planning your Marquette County vacation before we even have time to roll the credits.

The Upper Mississippi River area is a national treasure and two sparkling gems of that treasure can be found in the Wisconsin communities of Prairie du Chien and Trempealeau. The Black River Falls and Tomah areas both offer an endless array of outdoor recreation and attractions for visitors throughout the year. As we get out and play, we’ll be scuba diving on Wazee Lake, playing at Lunda Community Park, and simply traveling the many trails throughout the Black River Falls area. As we head to Tomah, we’ll pack the golf clubs, bikes, and kayaks to explore even more outdoor adventures. We’ll also visit the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge to find out what it really means to be immersed in Mother Nature. Manitowish Waters is a Northwoods paradise. Tucked away in cranberry country, Manitowish Waters highlights the fall season with its cranberry festival but offers plenty to see and do in all seasons. You can swim, fish or boat on the area’s chain of lakes, take in a local water ski show or cast your line for that record setting musky. And in winter, outdoor enthusiasts have miles of trails for skiing and snowmobiling. With unique lodging, great restaurants and the claim that both actor Johnny Depp and gangster John Dillinger spent time there, Manitowish Waters definitely has it all.
